The new smart BOMs are dynamically linked to the backend SQL server database to make updating production drawings much easier. The entire BOM is a smart object that the user can resize, while also changing colours, styles, and grid types to conform to individual company standards. Furthermore, a change in the BOM will automatically update any labels in place, retaining the often-significant efforts users have made. The smart BOMs will become part of the assembly drawings, pipe spool and HVAC spool drawings, as well as arrangement drawings.

With the introduction of the Hull module, Albacore Research Ltd. (ARL) will bring much of the functionality of the stand-alone ShipCAM solution into ShipConstructor, thus running inside of AutoCAD. Users will be able to open ShipCAM files, import 3DM (Rhino), IDF (IMSA) and IGES (most hull design programs) files, and export to IGES, IDF and GHS formats.
The Hull module’s functionality is greatly improved over the current stand-alone version of ShipCAM, and provides trim-able surfaces, stringer layouts on expanded plates, pin-jigs, and inverse bending. Plate Expansion, including forming templates, accuracy control data, and strain maps will be available inside AutoCAD.
ShipConstructor2005 Introduces New Pricing
The Annual Renewable License will be charged at 33% of the listed price, and will distribute payments for the license over several years. In most countries, these kinds of expenses should be fully taxable within the first year. A mandatory 15% charge for Maintenance and Support will be added from day one.
The Month-To-Month Rent License will be charged at 7% of the listed price per month. The rent period does not have to cover consecutive months. A mandatory 15% charge for Maintenance & Support will be added from day one. This pricing option is of advantage when supplementing existing licenses during peak demands or for consulting companies that want to send their experts, with ShipConstructor in hand, to their jobs.
