SSI, developer of Autodesk based shipbuilding software solutions, has now released the latest version of both its CAD/CAM application (ShipConstructor 2016 R2.1) and the company’s information collaboration tool, SSI EnterprisePlatform PublisherLT.

Greater Leverage of 3D Data and More Modeling Options

The focus of this release is on increasing the ability to leverage data found in the ShipConstructor 3D Marine Information Model (MIM) and on increasing options for CAD/CAM modelers.

3D to 2D

ShipConstructor is a program for 3D CAD/CAM modeling but there are many situations where 2D drawings are required, e.g. for classification drawings or for shipyards preferring drawings in 2D. Since the ShipConstructor 2014 release, SSI has provided an innovative ShipConstructor application called MarineDrafting that allows AutoCAD based 2D drawings with appropriate symbology to be created directly from the ShipConstructor 3D model. These 2D drawings remain associatively linked so that when the 3D model changes, the 2D drawings are automatically updated. This ensures greater quality and efficiency because work does not have to continually be redone.

Better Representation of Curved Plates

Now, with the latest release, ShipConstructor 2016 R2.1 enhances MarineDrafting by improving how curved plates are represented. This is especially useful for cambered decks and side shells.

Clip Geometry by Bounding Box

ShipConstructor 2016 R2.1 also enhances MarineDrafting by allowing modelers to focus on relevant geometry by clipping parts by the extents of a bounding box. This is important to clarify representations of pipe and equipment.

Add Custom User Attributes to Pipe Connection Accessories

The more information in the 3D model, the more that can be used to clarify information throughout a shipyard. ShipConstructor 2016 R2.1 now has the ability to add user attributes to pipe connection accessories such as bolts, nuts, gaskets etc. This is useful for Purchasing, Production and Engineering.

New HVAC Stock Types: Cap and Bellmouth

Get access to two new stock types: Cap and Bellmouth. This streamlines modeling of increasingly common HVAC stock types.

EnterprisePlatform Enhancements

SSI continues to enhance its groundbreaking information collaboration tool EnterprisePlatform PublisherLT so that shipyards can increase productivity by streamlining the production of reports and enhancing how information is shared between departments.

More options for creating Work Packages

Now, there are even more options for easily creating work packages. New options include: PDFs of Profile Plots, and PDFs and DXFs of Plate Nest drawings. This is incredibly useful for cutting plates and fabricating profiles, and viewing overview drawings.

Include Welds when exporting Overview Drawings

Another new PublisherLT feature is the ability to generate more complete overview drawings that not only show locations of exported parts in 3D space, but also explain how the parts are welded in the ship.
