Vera Navis Notes ShipConstructor Flexibility on Camarc Design Project

Vera Navis recently delivered a new structural detail design project for Camarc Design, a UK-based designer and one of Europe's leading small craft design firms specializing in the design of seaworthy high speed working craft ranging from 5m - 70m with speeds up to 45+ Knots.

The recently delivered vessel is a single hull, 15m steel Crew Boat with an aluminum cabin.

The project included the complete modelling of steel and aluminum structures as well as the entire bimetallic connection zone. All modelling was done in ShipConstructor, an integrated modelling software that operates in the Autodesk environment.

All the production information was then generated from the three-dimensional model, namely: the flattening of hull, deck plates and side profiles, nesting of plate and flat bars, profile production info, assembly booklet of all parts, 2D sectional frame cuts and material lists with weight and center of gravity for every part.

ShipConstructor Model: A Single Source of Truth

In the words of the project manager Pedro Antunes, "The use of an integrated tool like ShipConstructor allows for high flexibility whenever it is necessary to respond to the client’s requests for changes. The model becomes the focal point of the project and its Single Source of Truth."
