New Features in ShipConstructor 2011 R2

Increased Speed
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 reduces wait time by lessening the amount of time required to create and update assembly, arrangement, spool, and support construction drawings by up to 50%.

Batch Updatable Production Drawings
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 increases efficiency by providing the ability to update multiple arrangement, assembly, spool, or support construction drawings in a single operation. Drawings to update are selected from a drawing list then batch updated with results written to an easy to read logfile.

Enhanced ProductHierarchy
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 provides a much more flexible and powerful way of organizing project data by removing the unit constraint from non-primary product hierarchies. The separation of Navigator units from ProductHierarchy units allow units in Navigator to be defined in a way that makes sense for organizing projects, distributing work, and maximizing the benefits of part relationships. Alternate product hierarchies can be created to group parts for build strategy design, model attribution, production output generation, as well as for reporting.

Project Equipment List
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 extends the Marine Information Model (MIM) with the addition of the Project Equipment List, the next stage of development in ShipConstructor’s electrical module. The Project Equipment List allows users to define and manage the project master equipment list and associated electrical connections within ShipConstructor. It is designed to be the hub of equipment data, linking the 3D product model to other engineering disciplines and providing a mechanism for reconciling changes to the 3D model through the design cycle. ShipConstructor 2011 R2 provides toolsets for creating and managing the Project Equipment List, inserting parts in the 3D model using data in the Project Equipment List, and generating reports that allow differences between the Project Equipment List and the 3D model to be identified.

Improved Change Management
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 enhances already powerful associative DWG production drawings to simplify change management and production document revisioning. Production drawing updates can now be undone which provides a more precise mechanism for managing change in the ShipConstructor model. Additionally, ShipConstructor now allows old versions of assembly, arrangement, support construction, and spool drawing DWG files to be manually copied back to the project folder and reconciled to the model. Weld Management, Interference, and Product Hierarchy drawings are now updatable in the same manner as assembly, arrangement, support construction, and spool drawings.

Updatable Twisted Stiffeners
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 reduces duplication of effort due to change by offering a new one step process for updating model drawing twisted stiffeners from changes made in the hull module. Rather than deleting the old part version in the destination model drawing and re-exporting the part, using the Update Twisted Stiffener Part command allows the desired part to be easily replaced with new geometry while saving the user from re-entering information such as product hierarchy locations.

Reports by Model Drawing
ShipConstructor 2011 R2 provides greater access to project data by allowing reports to be generated by model drawing. Users now have the ability to generate reports by product hierarchy, system, and model drawing.
