Clash Manager UDA Improvements

SSI 2020 includes a number of improvements to help you use the Clash Manager and Clash Palette features more effectively.

  • Clashes now support the use of String Lists for User Defined Attributes (UDA's) as defined in Manager, which provide list options for users to choose from within the clash palette and Clash Manager in ShipConstructor;
  • Now, you can add multiple options to the clash UDA selections, thereby reducing data entry errors and providing standardized options for users to select, based on your requirements;
  • Once selected, the clash UDA options selected are then also visible from the Properties Palette, from within Navisworks, and the Object Enabler as read only options;
  • Furthermore, once you have searched for clashes and they appear in the Clash Manager or Clash Palette, you can now zoom to the clash directly, simply by right-clicking on the listed item and selecting “Zoom to clashing Part”;
  • This can dramatically save time and frustration, especially when dealing with a complex model, or multiple components.

SSI is continually working towards making it easier for you to efficiently perform tasks such as clash detection, which is why improvements to the Clash palette such as list UDA’s and the new “Zoom-to” features will save time and help reduce errors.

Clash Manager

Weld Revisions

ShipConstructor 2020 WeldManagement now supports tracking and review of weld revisions across the entire model.
While revisions have previously been available for other components within ShipConstructor, the ability to track weld revisions provides a whole new level of rigor in viewing and understanding weld changes made to the project over time.

Weld Revisions can now be viewed using one of three methods:

  • From the project Revisions, or Part revisions palette where synchronized welds, modified welds, deleted welds and added welds are all tracked and displayed;
  • By using the Task Manager to record and display a Revisions summary, where weld modifications can be tracked by user and for specific changes made within the task list window;
  • And by using PublisherLT to create output based on revisions remotely. where you can create reports and outputs for weld changes even when not connected to ShipConstructor.

Weld now displays Revisions for the following properties, (including Standard, Auto Standard and UDA)for any object:

  • Weld Paths;
  • Weld position within the product hierarchy;
  • and Weld pin and unpins.

The following changes are not tracked:

  • Changes to weld types;
  • Changes to the weld standards;
  • Changes to the weld schedule;
  • Changes to the weld status;
  • Changes to the definition of UDA's;
  • Changes to the parts the weld is associated with.

Keep track of changes on an individual user level, unit level or project level and be able to access and share that data from a variety of locations to suit your needs.

Support Use of Secondary Product Hierarchy with WeldManagement

Prior to this release, managing welds could be a time-consuming process. With the new integrated WeldManagement Product Hierarchy Palette, managing weld schedules across the entire project is a snap:

  • Users can manage and manipulate Welds from the Primary or a non-Primary Product Hierarchy;
  • Welds are visible, and visibility can be turned On or Off inside the designated Product Hierarchy;
  • Welds can be scheduled independent of corresponding part(s);
  • Welds can be moved manually from one assembly to another;
  • Each Product Hierarchy can have unique naming conventions.

Overall, the secondary Product Hierarchy support is a huge improvement and integrates the weld management process into the existing Product Hierarchy system. It offers a more streamlined and efficient way to manage an otherwise complicated process.

Weld Management

Improved Scaling and Detailing of Profile Plots

Production activities have been streamlined with improvements to scale and annotation functionality within Profile Plots. When inserting Profile Plots, very often the scale that is used by default is less than satisfactory.

  • Web, Flange and Profile views can now be scaled separately from the end views providing greater clarity;
  • Enhanced annotation for green means you can see more information in less space without losing critical details.

By enabling the end-cut details to be scaled individually, ShipConstructor enables you to make the most effective use of the drawing space while ensuring that the relevant information is passed along to the end user on the production floor. Additionally, this feature reduces the possibility of producing scaling errors and improves consistency.

Profile Plots

Clash Manager

The Clash Manager is conceptually identical to the Clash Palette, but provides a central location to show clashes for the entire project, rather than just for the drawing being worked on. The new Clash Manager offers an efficient means of locating, viewing, managing, and correcting clashes across all drawings.

  • Improved Overall Stability
    • Simplified part type selection
    • Improved the performance in key areas
    • Added permissions for creation, editing, and deletion of clashes
  • User Defined Attributes (UDA's) added to to Clash properties

Effective clash detection and management is critical to productive project workflows, and the new Clash Manager from ShipConstructor 2019 R2.1 is here to help you achieve better results, more efficiently.

Streamlined WeldManagement Modeling Features

The ShipConstructor 2019 R2 release of WeldManagement includes a new framework for assigning weld standards.

  • Previously, you would have to determine and assign a standard to each weld individually based on a pre-defined weld schedule. Searching for, and applying these changes to hundreds of welds was time-consuming and inefficient.
  • New Weld Palette features allow you to mass-assign weld standards to multiple welds based on a pre-defined schedule, saving you a tremendous amount of time, and reducing human error.
  • Now we give you the ability to select as many welds as you want, and based on your pre-defined weld schedule, apply standards automatically to those welds with just a few clicks.
  • If standards have already been assigned to certain welds, users now have the ability to validate those instances.

These features will save time for ShipConstructor users who work with WeldManagement, minimizing human error, improving clarity and achieving greater order within the system.

Streamlined WeldManagement

Computer Aided Robotic Welding

ShipConstructor now supports a streamlined workflow for Computer Aided Robotic Welding providing the ability to generate robot-class 3D model and welding specification exports from ShipConstructor. This development is key to enable cost-effective utilization of robotic automation for one-off and high-mix/low-volume production in the defense and commercial shipbuilding industries.

Identify and Resolve Local and Global Clashes while you Model

The new ShipConstructor Clash Detection features add value by finding clashes earlier and providing tools to make it more efficient to track and correct them. With Clash Detection you can eliminate avoidable clashes earlier in the design stage, avoiding costly redesigns or field repairs.

  • Global clash detection works in the background while you continue to work on your model.
  • Global clash detection always checks your drawings against the live project…no more checking against stale snapshots of work completed.
  • Once identified, clashes become part of the ShipConstructor project so you can report on clashes, and when a drawing is opened, any known clashes for parts in that drawing will be shown, even if found elsewhere in the project.
  • View clashes and related commands in the new Clash palette. The new Palette supports advanced filtering and grouping to help you focus attention on what matters to you. Quickly visualize clashing parts through partviews. This enables you to quickly assess the situation and update your model. Easily navigate to the drawings you need right from the clash palette. As work progresses (assessing, fixing and checking the clash), its status can be updated to reflect progress through the workflow
  • Local clash detection offers a faster "light-weight" check within the current drawing, requiring fewer system and network resources
  • Clash detection will replace Interference checking in future releases of ShipConstructor.

Make your clash management more efficient with the new Clash detection features within ShipConstructor 2019 R2. A truly revolutionary approach to save time and costs in ship design.
