{"id":30363,"date":"2021-09-07T04:50:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-07T11:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ssi-corporate.com\/?p=30363"},"modified":"2022-10-27T07:52:42","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T14:52:42","slug":"ssi-pledges-100000-support-for-victoria-marine-rescue-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ssi-corporate.com\/ja\/blog-lighthouse\/ssi-pledges-100000-support-for-victoria-marine-rescue-society\/","title":{"rendered":"SSI Pledges $100,000 Support for Victoria Marine Rescue Society"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After being in the water for an hour and a half a half-mile&nbsp;off shore, with the sun setting&nbsp;off&nbsp;the Victoria coast,&nbsp;a&nbsp;Mayday&nbsp;call came in from&nbsp;a windsurfer in distress.&nbsp;Answering&nbsp;the call was the crew aboard Station 35\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Craig Dunn<\/em>, already on the water&nbsp;and just wrapping up training for the night. Shortly after the call, the windsurfer was on board the rescue vessel, warm, and reunited with family&nbsp;back on shore.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-font-size has-medium-font-size\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/vmrs.org\/\">Support VMRS<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCM-SAR)&nbsp;Station 35 crew was ready to spring to action thanks to their continuous commitment to training, made possible by&nbsp;an experienced team of volunteers and&nbsp;the Victoria Marine Rescue Society (VMRS),&nbsp;the organization&nbsp;that supports the station.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\r\n    <span id=\"\" class=\"anchor\"><\/span>\r\n    <div class=\"video embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\" style=\"margin:0 auto;\">\r\n      <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/na3lKKUsdEU?rel=0&#038;loop=1&#038;listType=playlist&#038;list=PL86E78E20331A21E2\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n  \n\n\n<p>The dedication of the volunteers of VMRS and Station 35 to creating a safer marine environment&nbsp;around our HQ of&nbsp;Victoria, Canada is one of the main reasons that we are proud to announce our sponsorship of the VMRS with a five-year, $100,000&nbsp;commitment that extends through to 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor over 30 years, ships built with our solutions have been put in service all over the world, as well as here in Victoria.\u201d says Darren Larkins, SSI co-CEO. \u201cI\u2019m proud that we are able to partner with a local organization committed to keeping our marine community safe, including for those onboard vessels we\u2019ve played a part in.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is fantastic to have the support of a company like SSI, especially when they are local to Victoria.\u201d says Alan Lawrence, VMRS Treasurer. \u201cSSI\u2019s support brings us closer to achieving our goals and boosts our readiness to tackle any rescue situation in our waters.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VMRS is ramping up fundraising activity in the Victoria community to establish a new home near Ogden Point, construct an all-electric rescue vessel, train more people to be available for rescue, and increase the number of back-office volunteers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contributions of $20,000 annually for five years represent a long-term commitment to supporting VMRS. The rescue organization\u2019s fundraising efforts within the local community will give the non-profit more opportunities to save lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kicking off the partnership&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In late August, the SSI team had the opportunity to kick off the partnership with VMRS and Station 35 by joining them for their annual BBQ. The community-focused and&nbsp;family-friendly event was the perfect backdrop to start off the relationship on the right foot.
