For May 2025, we’re rolling out the first look at ShipConstructor 2026 and the newest capabilities in ShipbuildingPLM 3.1. This release focuses on platform modernization, richer change-management insight, and simpler ways to get the information you need—whether that’s on-screen, in a report, or inside SSI Nexus.

Join the SSI team on June 5 at 8am PST (11am EST, 5pm CET) for a webinar first look at all the improvements now available in ShipConstructor 2026 and ShipbuildingPLM 3.1.

Annual platform upgrades
ShipConstructor now runs on AutoCAD 2026, Navisworks 2026, Windows Server 2025, and the .NET 8 runtime. Users get immediate access to the latest Autodesk toolsets, faster processing throughout ShipConstructor, and cleaner, more consistent UI grids and dialogs.

Outfitting Enhancement
Pipe support assembly calculations
Pipe Support Components are now included in the Assemblies’ calculation capabilities, such as for weight, center of gravity (CG), and part counts in both BOMs and Reports.

It is now easier to deform pipe around obstacles with the addition of a right-click context menu for adding or removing zero-degree grip points to a bent pipe
Finally, we have improved Spool Dimensioning to be more intuitive. Previously, when connections were created, linemode icons and dimensions were placed at the midpoint of the connection gap between the ends being connected. Now, line mode icons are placed at each end at the respective end treatment positions.
Pipe support revisions
All pipe-support components now participate in the Part Revision Viewer. See who changed what, when, and why—then drill into any modified geometry, attribute, or metadata field for a crystal-clear audit trail.

Production Preparation
BOM and Drawing-Label Sorting
String sorting has moved from Windows NLS libraries to ICU for rock-solid, locale-independent ordering. Dashes, special symbols, and variable-length part numbers now sort as expected, keeping BOMs, labels, and callouts aligned across every workstation.

This impacts the following:
- BOMs without revisions, or with parts added since revisions
- Special characters (such as dash) now sort correctly
- Part numbers may change the number of digits, thus impacting label alignment or formatting.
MIM Reports: Dynamic BOM & project summary pages
SSI Marine Information Model Reports (MIM Reports) now includes three additional pages to view dynamic bill of materials (BOM) and summary statistics from your ShipConstructor project, as well as a page to highlight drawings that may be out-of-date relative to the parts they reference.

Configuration and Change Management
Release Container (RCO) Enhancements
Release Containers (RCOs) in ShipbuildingPLM allow Project Managers, Functional Designers, Detail Designers, and Engineering Leads to be more selective and more granular when releasing information downstream.

SSI ShipbuildingPLM now includes enhanced Release COntainer functionality including:
- 3D Visualization/DPN view for assembly/spool RCOs.
- The ability to add multiple assemblies from the same or differing parent assembly trees.
- Including RCO items in multiple, concurrent RCOs.
- Spools are included without dependency on parent items being included.
- Removing assemblies/spools to correct mistakes.
