» Software Developer

As an Intermediate Software Developer, you will be joining our Product Development team and be on the forefront of advancing CAD design for the marine industry.  In this role, you will work through all facets of software development: design, prototype, implementation, testing and documentation.

Requirements:
•    A degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
•    A thorough understanding of C++, C# and/or other object-oriented programming languages.
•    Strong written and oral communication skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to take direction and work well as a team member.
•    Desire to learn.
•    Demonstrated strategic thinking and adaptive learning skills.
•    The ability to be adaptable and work effectively on multiple changing projects.
•    Enjoys working with a skilled team, and feels a sense of ownership and pride in the team's work product.
•    Demonstrated initiative and the ability to lead by example.
•    Relocation to Victoria, BC, plus valid Canadian work permit is required.

Asset Experience:
•    Strong C++ and C# programming skills.
•    Experience with implementing a web service application
•    Agile development experience
•    5+ years experience in C++, C# and/or other object-oriented programming languages.
•    5+ years experience in T-SQL and SQL Server.
•    2+ years .NET Development experience.
•    Experience with Computer Aided Design software.
•    Knowledge of design patterns, complex data structures and algorithms.

» Technical Writer (Co-op)

We are looking for a student who would like to spend their work−term with our young and dynamic team of software developers. Our development team is made up of many university graduates who previously completed co−op work−terms with us.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing standardized, consistent material which will be used by SSI clients. The core project will involve restructuring and updating ShipConstructor manuals, documenting standards for future updates to the manuals, as well as researching and authoring How-To and Best-Practices articles with our team of experts, describing issues and their solutions or workarounds and create various forms of technical documentation. Some of the documents created will require screen captures of our products, short videos, and/or conceptual diagrams to best illustrate a concept.

The position acts as a champion for template use and technical writing standards to develop the manuals documentation.

Requirements:
•    Excellence in communicating difficult technical concepts in easy to understand plain English
•    Ability to translate complex technical information into a structured document
•    Experience in comprehending software functionality with minimal instruction or demonstration

•    Pursuing a Bachelor degree in English, Journalism, or Technical Writing
Skills:
•    Proven experience with technical writing and preparation

» Technical Project Manager

We are looking for individuals to join our Product Management team as a Technical Product Manager. You will investigate and analyze customer and market data to identify and document market problems. You will produce and develop requirements specifications and will contribute with prioritization of product development. You will work with product development leads and teams to plan and implement development projects. You will participate in and act as a customer representative in product design. As your product and industry experience expands you will have the opportunity to support the sales channel as a corporate representative and product expert.

Requirements:

•    5 years of hands on industry experience in software Product Development, Product Management or Project Management

» QA Analyst

Opportunity
As a member of the Quality Assurance Team you will be responsible for all things related to testing for our main products, ShipConstructor and EnterprisePlatform. You will perform a variety of testing including functional, integration, performance, exploratory, automation and usability. You will work closely with developers and other members of QA to ensure requirements are testable by identifying what needs to be tested and which areas contain the most risk. You will create test plans and test cases for a given piece of functionality and perform the tests relevant to that functionality. For bugs that you find, you will enter into our issue tracking system and quickly communicate major issues to the appropriate people. You will also assist in making suggestions and researching improvements to our QA practices.

Who we are looking for:
You are a person who genuinely enjoys testing software and consider yourself a bug finding machine. You have the ability to identify a bug’s severity, and when a bug is found you spend the time to determine the cause and create reliable steps to reproduce. Your organization skills and creativity help you develop comprehensive test plans and test cases. You are constantly improving yourself and have an interest in expanding your knowledge of QA best practices. You like variety in your work and have experience with exploratory testing, scripted testing and test automation.

Requirements:

•    A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
•    At least 2+ years’ experience in QA
•    Demonstrated aptitude for software and technology
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
•    Good decision making skills
•    Strong organizational skills and a high attention to detail
•    A methodical way of thinking
•    A demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks
•    Fluent in English
•    Relocation to Victoria, BC, plus valid Canadian work permit is required
