Patrick Roberts was honored to be invited by Austal.
In recognition of the contribution that SSI has made towards building the Independence Class of the US Navy’s Littoral Combat Ships, Austal USA invited SSI USA Director of Operations Patrick Roberts as a VIP guest to witness the Christening of LCS 20 Cincinnati on May 5, 2018.
Austal uses SSI’s ShipConstructor software for design/engineering and earlier this year, Roberts helped Austal advocate for funding of the Littoral Combat Ship Program by meeting with US Senators and House Representatives to discuss the FY2018 and FY2019 Department of Defense Budget.
Austal has delivered two Littoral Combat Ships to the Navy in 2018 while another five are under construction. LCS 18 is preparing for sea trials as LCS 20, 22, 24 and LCS 26 follow close behind. Additionally, Austal has two more Littoral Combat Ships in a pre-construction phase, LCS 28 and LCS 30.
In addition to being in full rate production for the LCS program, Austal is also the Navy’s prime contractor for the expeditionary fast transport (EPF) program. Austal has delivered nine EPF vessels, while an additional three are in various stages of construction.
Austal is using SSI’s ShipConstructor on all these projects.
“It was an honor to be invited to the Christening of LCS 20,” said Patrick Roberts. “SSI is proud to support Austal’s success.”
