SSI ニュース

SSI, a proudly Canadian provider of digital shipbuilding solutions, is pleased to announce the start of the implementation phase of its ShipbuildingPLM solution in collaboration with Fleetway, an In-Service Support and engineering company supporting the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and Canadian Coast Guard. This strategic partnership is focused on modernizing and optimizing the Docking Work Periods (DWPs) for Canada’s Halifax-class frigates.

ShipbuildingPLM, a fully Canadian-developed digital shipbuilding information platform by SSI, is being deployed alongside Fleetway’s existing SSI ShipConstructor environment, as part of a broader digital initiative. InnovMarine, an SSI partner, is supporting the implementation to ensure successful integration across the technology environment. This integration will significantly streamline operations, enhance data management, and provide critical workflow efficiencies for naval and coast guard maintenance programs. As part of the implementation, SSI will conduct strategic workshops with Fleetway and program stakeholders to identify and prioritize impactful, easily achievable operational improvements.

The implementation of ShipbuildingPLM will initially support two essential objectives for the Halifax-class frigate Docking Work Period. The first objective will focus on accelerating production and enabling early collaboration. SSI’s solution will facilitate the creation of detailed production packages, allowing stakeholders to collaborate earlier and initiate pre-fabrication well ahead of scheduled docking periods. This will involve milestones such as distributing specifications to shipyards promptly, optimizing review processes, and expediting material procurement.

The second objective will ensure continuous and integrated production by seamlessly collecting part information, Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly information, and production documentation within a cohesive, real-time digital environment. This unified approach will provide Fleetway, RCN stakeholders, and partner shipyards with shared visibility and coordinated workflows, significantly improving efficiency and reducing downtime.

“As a proud Canadian company, SSI is committed to enhancing Canada’s naval capabilities through innovation,” said Denis Morais, CEO at SSI. “The implementation of ShipbuildingPLM with Fleetway for this Royal Canadian Navy program is a prime example of how our nation has the expertise to fulfill the objectives of our national defense strategy.”

“Integrating ShipbuildingPLM is transformative for our support to ships during dockings,” said Colin Clark, Director of Programs at Fleetway. “It will improve our collaboration with partner shipyards, accelerate project timelines, and enhance the quality and efficiency of maintenance activities.”

“Fleetway’s use of ShipConstructor has already enabled more efficient production of technical packages,” said Pierre-Charles Drapeau, President and Founder at InnovMarine. “We are proud to contribute our expertise to a project so strategically important for Canada.”

This implementation marks a significant step forward in the digital transformation of Canada’s naval maintenance capabilities, reinforcing SSI’s commitment to delivering innovative, fully Canadian-developed solutions that support naval and coast guard operational readiness.
