Greatly Increased Capabilities for Pipe, Nest and Suites Users

SSI 2019 includes changes to the licensing model to make our products easier to understand and increase value to our clients.

License changes include:
Pipe - Now includes all the functionalities of Pipe, PipeSupports, PipeLink, and P&ID Design Validation.
NestNow includes all the functionalities of ManualNest, AutomaticNest and ProfileNest.
Suites - Now, all users of ShipConstructor Suites conveniently have both Hull Structure and Outfitting Modeling tools since the suites have been consolidated into three types: Standard Suite, Premium Suite and the Ultimate Suite.

AutoCAD, SQL, and Server Upgrades

AutoCAD

  • Now compatible with both AutoCAD 2019 and 2018

Windows Server

  • Now supports Windows Server 2016 in addition to 2012 and 2012 R2 (See note below)

SQL Server

  • Now supports SQL Server 2017 in addition to SQL Server 2016,2014 and 2012. A key new feature of SQL 2017 is Automatic tuning. Automatic tuning is a database feature that provides insight into potential query performance problems, recommend solutions, and fix identified problems.

Client Requested: Improved Labels

SSI has developed a completely new framework that enables you to use predefined Property Label styles while labeling!

  • Introduced functionality so you no longer need to spend time on building each label individually.

  • Improved Production drawing consistency across entire project through use of Label Styles.

  • Transitioned Property Labels to be AutoCAD MLeaders.

  • Streamlined the process of placing multiple Property Labels. Now, adding multiple labels only takes a couple of clicks per label!

  • Introduced the ability to lock the appearance for SCONLABEL BOM labels.

Client Requested: Hull Effectivity

You can now transfer modeling changes for the major part types between projects with similar catalogs. This is a technical preview of the technology being developed to make it easier for clients to manage changes between sister ships. The current functionality allows clients to make modeling changes in one project and to easily apply those changes to other projects including:

1. Creating new parts
2. Updating existing parts
3. Deleting removed parts

The parts to be transferred can be selected in 3 ways:

1. Selection of parts in a drawing

2. Using the Load Manager

3. Using ShipConstructor Tasks

Before the transfer goes through clients are given a detailed view of all the changes which are going to be made and a report of any things which need to be corrected before a transfer can proceed.

Client Requested: Mark Group Intersections for Distributed Systems

You can now select most Distributed Systems drawings and part types in the Mark Group Intersections command when creating 3D solid intersections.

Enhancements for Subscription Users

The Subscription Advantage Pack is a special benefit that is available to customers with active subscriptions, and offers early access to new features.

Set UDAs from Volumes

This new functionality allows users to assign User Defined Attribute values to parts in specific volumes. As an example, you may want to create a volume that defines the engine room and ensure that a UDA specifying engine room is assigned to all parts within that space.

Model Link Manager

Our new MLink Manager palette will allow you to easily manage references to model drawings as well as production drawings. New Model Linking functionality is comprised of the new Manager, the new drawing selector dialog and new possibilities such as MLinking production drawings into model drawings and vice versa.

MLinkManager

Global Clash Detection

As an outfitting modeler, you will love the addition of global clash detection so you can model more efficiently by addressing clashes earlier between your model and the rest of the project.

 MarineDrafting Enhancements

Automatically Generated Pipe and HVAC Centerlines

In ShipConstructor 2018 R2, we have introduced two new options when generating MarineDrafting geometry. You can now enable the display of pipe and HVAC centerlines in 2D output. Automatically inserted centerlines will save you a significant amount of time when placing dimensions and performing general detailing of production drawings.

MD1

MD2

Simplified and Detailed Representations of 2D Geometry

Another useful feature added in this release is the ability to choose between simplified and detailed representations of parts in 2D views. Depending on the scale of production output that needs to be delivered, you have the option to show a high level of detail in your drawings as well as the option to minimize geometry by using simplified representations for some parts. Note that simplified representations currently apply to Structure parts only. If this option is enabled, all stiffeners and hidden plate parts that meet the required conditions will be generated as single lines opposed to showing them as complete 3D solids projected onto a 2D plane.

MD3

MD4

MD5

Consistent Results when Generating Output

There are also significant enhancements to the MarineDrafting view generation algorithm. These enhancements range from addressing missing geometry for hidden plates to reworking the low-level code responsible for consistency of 2D output. The improved algorithm ensures a much higher quality 2D output and addresses an issue of the original geometry reappearing in the drawing on top of your manual work after updating the view.

MD6

Lightweight Model Link

The Lightweight Model Link Manager allows you to quickly bring a stage into your current model drawing to see how your work references against everything else in the ship. This is done without the performance hit of the traditional Model Link which uses drawings.

Label List Palette Enhancements

Based on the enthusiastic response it received, after additional development this feature has now been moved out of the Subscription Advantage Pack and into the core product. With just one look at the Label List palette you now can instantly tell which parts are missing labels and where those parts are located in a drawing. This helpful Production Palette has several convenient features such as the ability to select parts in model space, the ability to initiate manual labeling and the ability to change the visual presentation of data.

Generate Names by Unit

A new enhancement to our Generate Names functionality for Naming Conventions allows you to simply pick one or multiple units in your project and update part names. The previous functionality to Generate Names for the entire project remains the same.
