New features chosen will be available in the ShipConstructor 2017 R2.1 Release.
SSI, developer of ShipConstructor and EnterprisePlatform software, has successfully introduced a sophisticated suggestion/voting system to improve communication efficiency between the SSI development team and our end users. The system is called the SSI Community Wishlist and since its launch at the end of September 2016, SSI has already counted the votes of users, analyzed the programming time required, and even developed two new features that will be available in time for the ShipConstructor 2017 R2.1 release!
“We have always prided ourselves on being in tune with the needs of our clients,” says Denis Morais, SSI Chief Technology Officer. “The Community Wishlist takes things to the next level by giving us a powerful tool for determining what enhancements would be most valued by our diverse user community. From there, it is simply a matter of looking at the resources required so that we can make the greatest impact with the most efficient use of our development time. We want to benefit as many of our clients as much and as powerfully as we can.”
“Just to add a little context to Denis’s statement about ‘being in tune with our clients’, I’ve been intrigued while watching this client/vendor relationship evolve over the years. When our founder (Rolf Oetter) was getting the earliest versions of what is now ShipConstructor out the door, support from seasoned designers and shipbuilders was critical. We needed feedback from clients as to how we could develop software that improved their productivity. We literally ‘released’ new versions of the software on a daily basis as our trusted advisors provided feedback. Today, 25 years later, we have clients from all over the world building all kinds of different ships using unique and innovative production methods. The development of the Community Wishlist is just one of multiple ways we are maintaining that relationship with our clients. The big benefit of the Wishlist is that it applies technology to collate and organize feedback from hundreds of clients.”
