SSI has always valued the input we receive from our clients and it is one of the major reasons our products have been successful at solving the real challenges our clients face. However, this is not a task that is ever complete.
In our continuing search to find better and more efficient ways to hear from our clients, we have created a SSI Nexus Community Wishlist where our global community can unite their collective voice in directing what they would like SSI to improve. This Community Wishlist will be used by the SSI team to help prioritize the order in which we develop our next features and products.
All SSI clients have the ability to provide their input and are encouraged to do so. We designed the Community Wishlist so that it only takes < 10 min to provide input that could have significant benefit to you and your company in the next release of ShipConstructor.
Continuous Improvement
I have no illusion that our products are perfect; actually, no product is perfect. Because of the flexibility of our architecture, the possibilities are endless and until we finally developed the Build Ship button, our job will not be done. There is a saying I often say:
We are at a stage where we need to decide which good ideas not to do.
In essence, this saying means that there are many enhancements that we want to do and plan to do in the next few years. The difficulty we have (which is the same as any good software company), is prioritizing which items we do first. This means we are choosing which good ideas to implement over other good ideas.
The SSI Nexus Community Wishlist will be a primary method our team will use to get feedback from our clients. This will directly affect what SSI develops and therefore what you will see in our products.
You do not know what you do not know.
SSI has many clients across the globe and many have a different workflow to accomplish certain tasks. The Community Wishlist will provide some insight for you to know how other SSI users believe our products can be improved. Some of the ideas and suggestions may be something that you and your team never thought about but would have tremendous benefit to you.
Having a holistic view of all the requests from our clients will give you a better opportunity to determine what items can improve what you do.
Ok, I am sold! So how do I vote?
You first will need to have a SSI Nexus account. If you do not have an account, you can request a free account here. Ensure to use your company email address (as noted on the registration form) as this is how we ensure you are Subscription user.
Once you have your account you can log into SSI Nexus and click Wishlist on the top menu bar:

You will then see the Community Wish List.

The star rating of each of the items indicate the average rating from all SSI Nexus community users. The star rating does not represent your vote.
To vote you simply need to click on a star.

The leftmost star is a low rating (you would rather us focus on something else) and the rightmost star (you really want us to focus on it). The number beside the star (5 in the above example) is the number of people who have voted.
To see your vote you simply hover the mouse over the stars and a context menu will display telling you what your vote was on this item.

You can go down the list and vote for all items in the list. If you only have a few moments or are interrupted while voting, you will always be able to return to this Community Wishlist in the future and continue providing your input. Changes are saved immediately so you will never lose your work.
How to Add a New Request

The best way to add an item to the Wishlist is to make a new discussion in the SSI Nexus community page. The SSI team actively participates in SSI Nexus Community discussions and if a new feature is requested or being discussed we will add the item on the Wishlist for the entire community to vote for. We do plan on improving this strategy in the future.
Closing Remarks
Client input is very important to SSI as we see it as the only way to build great products. The SSI Nexus Community Wishlist will be an easy way for clients to vote for the enhancements that they would like SSI to develop.
I cannot promise that we will complete all the items on the Wishlist in order as the level of effort to complete some of the items can differ significantly.
What I can promise is that the SSI team will be reviewing the Wishlist for every release and using it as a major source of input.
Every user ShipConstructor user should vote. The more users in your company that vote for what matters to you, the more influence you will have on the outcome. Creating a SSI Nexus account is free and only takes minutes. There is really no reason not to join.
